Whether your application requires a modified commercial system, a custom-designed, packaged unit or a fully commissioned turnkey system, DWD can meet all of these needs. And we can do so with proven reliability in any environment.
Since 1974 DWD has been designing and manufacturing increasingly large and complex explosion-proof air conditioning and pressurization systems for domestic and international installations. Smaller systems typically range from 1-10 tons. Larger offshore living quarters have averaged 150 tons and 22,000 square feet while encompassing up to six stories of explosion-proof, air conditioning and pressurization systems.
DWD specializes in the highly corrosive nature of chemical and offshore facilities operating under extreme temperature ranges. We have provided turnkey engineering and manufacturing for explosion-proof air conditioning, pressurization and ventilation systems in applications such as:
- Offshore Platforms & Rigs
- Chemical Plants
- Seismographic Vessels
- Control Buildings
- Refinery Applications
- Laboratory & Well Logging Complexes
- Docking Terminals
- Volatile Gas Removal
Some of the projects that DWD has engineered and manufactured have been operating around the globe for more than 30 years. In the early 1970’s, DWD designed the offshore living quarters for a facility that still produces oil today. The original living quarters were revamped just several years ago, adding two 40-ton condensing units and replacing all HVAC installations.

To further support overall quality and compliance, DWD has amassed a comprehensive database of local codes, regulations and specialized design requirements around the world. These requirements include, but are not limited to, those issued by the IEEE, NEC, U.S. Coast Guard, ABS, Det Norske Veritas, Lloyd’s of London, NFPA and ATEX.
DWD’s coatings have proven their superior reliability after more than three decades of being exposed to highly corrosive, saliferous marine conditions and chemical environments, onshore and offshore.
Our protective coating formulas also can be custom-tailored to meet the particular requirements or extreme environmental conditions of unique locations. This precaution ensures that units branded with the DWD name will tolerate and survive potential corrosion problems.
Equal attention is placed on surface preparation, the primer and the multiple final anti-corrosion coats of DWD’s coatings system that are applied to condenser and evaporator coils, heat exchangers, previously-painted surfaces, galvanized and aluminum surfaces, plate structures and skids.
The Shenzi was a turnkey job, requiring DWD’s comprehensive project management.
